COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Boys & Girls Club of Columbus received a significant boost for its after-school programs today, thanks to a $1300 donation from the Bi-City Golf Social Club.

This generous contribution will directly fund memberships for children whose families can't afford the cost, ensuring more kids have a safe and supportive place to go after school. The Boys & Girls Club offers a vital extension of the classroom, providing homework help, healthy snacks, and engaging activities that help keep children on track academically and socially.

"They are an extension of the classroom for the Muscogee County School District," stated Frank Brown, School District Director of Transportation, highlighting the Club's role in academic success. Rodney Close, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club, emphasized the comprehensive support offered: "It provides an opportunity to come to the Boys and Girls Club, get help with their homework, receive a healthy snack, engage in activities with their peers."

Over the past seven years, Bi-City Golf has donated more than $12,000 to local Boys & Girls Clubs, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to youth in the community.

Our Story:

The Bi-City Golf Club, Inc. began with a simple idea from one of our own everyday golfers, Mr. Eddie "Dump" Palmer.

Our first meeting took place in October 2006, where Dan Webb was elected President and Tyler Williams as Vice President. It was decided to kick off the golf season with a one-day, two-man blind draw tournament held on the last Saturday in March. This event ran in both 2007 and 2008.

Leadership transitioned in October 2007 when the President and Vice President resigned. In November 2007, the club elected Frank Brown as President and William Rockemore as Vice President. Under President Brown's recommendation, the club voted in May 2008 to host a two-day golf tournament. This led to our inaugural annual two-day event, held at The Bull Creek Golf Course on August 28th and 29th, 2009.
