Our Story
The Capitol City Golf Association (CCGA) was founded in 1961 with a clear mission: to provide opportunities for golfers to hone their skills and to cultivate a welcoming environment that encourages wider community participation in the sport. One of our first significant initiatives was the launch of the initial Open-Amateur Tournament in 1965.
For 44 continuous years, CCGA members have successfully delivered wholesome golf activities, establishing the association as one of the most respected and prolific sports organizations in the area.
Our membership has steadily grown, as have our ambitions. Currently, CCGA proudly boasts 90 members, and our activities have expanded to include vital outreach and benevolent programs. In 2010, major emphasis programs included the Youth Golf Program and the 100 Black Men Legacy Fund.
The 2010 CCGA Tournament was meticulously planned with a comprehensive format. We actively sought support from corporate sponsors, donors, businesses, civic organizations, and other contributors to help CCGA achieve its ambitious goals for the year. We anticipated a record-breaking turnout of participating golfers and contributors.
This annual event typically draws around 144 golfers who travel from across Louisiana and neighboring states like Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Florida, showcasing the broad appeal and reach of our tournament.
